Hello Alison Lyn Miller,
My name is Gledre, and I organize “Discussing Books in English in Madrid,” an international reading community based in Madrid, Spain, with more than 844 readers and members, and still growing.
We would love to invite you to join us as a guest author for a live virtual discussion on June 28, 2026, centered around your memoir, Rough House.
Our community brings together readers from many different countries, cultures, and professional backgrounds who share a passion for literature and thoughtful discussion in English. One of the most rewarding aspects of our meetings is the diversity of perspectives that emerge when readers engage deeply with books that explore identity, personal transformation, culture, and human experience.
Books are selected through member recommendations and community voting, and we announce our readings well in advance so members have time to fully engage with the work and prepare thoughtful reflections and questions. This creates discussions that are highly engaged, personal, and interactive.
We believe our members would be especially excited to discuss Rough House with you directly, particularly its exploration of performance, escapism, self-actualisation, and the emotional realities embedded within America’s amateur wrestling subculture. The balance of grit, humor, and honesty within your memoir feels especially well suited for the kind of meaningful and open conversations our readers enjoy.
The event would be informal, welcoming, and conversation-driven, giving you the opportunity to connect with readers from different parts of the world and hear firsthand how your story resonates across cultures and experiences.
We are hosting a live virtual discussion on June 28, 2026, and we would love to invite you to join us for 20 to 45 minutes for a relaxed Q and A with our readers. If the date does not work for you, we are very flexible and would be happy to arrange another time in June or July that better fits your schedule.
If this sounds interesting to you, simply let us know what dates or times may work best, and we would be delighted to coordinate everything from there.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. We would truly love the opportunity to feature Rough House within our international reading community in Madrid.
Warm regards,
Gledre
